-Robert Earl Keen
In Texas they don’t mow the medians, so that wildflowers can grow. I think that’s one of the best things I’ve ever heard.

I saw him. It was magical. SXSW 2012 was the best.

What’s funny is I was near the back with Houston, Chris, and Lisa, when two older dudes pushed their way past us, one of them saying, “I gotta see this!” I said, “You and me both, dude!” and one of the guys motioned to me to follow him. I laughed it off and stayed where I was. Literally minutes later I decided to go up front, and I saw the same guy. He offered to let me stand in front of him so I could get a better view. What a nice guy. He’s probably just a cool dad who likes to party.
I had to hop on one leg the whole time because I twisted my knee earlier in the week at a Wavves show. Party. Hard.

This will be my next “experiment” to veganize. Chocolate beet cake. Isn’t that frosting just the prettiest color?!
I’d also like to try dyeing some fabric with beet juice…I believe I have some beets in my fridge right now that need to be used up. First, though, I need to buy film so that I can actually document these things…

BHLDN has some great stuff, like these medallion food picks. (image from BHLDN, originally found on Pinterest via Oh Joy!)

and this beautiful mint green cake stand! too bad it’s $98! no worries though, as i’ve seen similar looking stands at thrift stores.

these garlands are interesting, too. i bet i could figure out how to make them myself. maybe. hopefully.
it’s getting warmer in austin which is nice. my birthday was a couple weeks ago, and although it rained the day of, it was about 80 a couple days after. definitely not used to that! have a good week!
